What is the REACH Unit?

The Realization of Economic Achievement Unit (R.E.A.C.H) is an initiative which focuses mainly on community empowerment and poverty eradication among the poor and vulnerable in communities throughout Tobago. It assists these persons in gaining economic independence and self-sufficiency.

The R.E.A.C.H Unit provides grant funding to establish micro business enterprise. Funding is also available for training and development projects.

What are the Objectives of the Unit?

• To promote self employment; entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency

• To equip the vulnerable and disadvantaged with marketable skills

• To reduce unemployment, under employment and dependency in communities

• To encourage the establishment of micro business

What is the criteria to enter this programme?

• Applicants should be eighteen (18) years and over

• The applicant must be unemployed

• A business plan

• Individuals must fall within the minimum wage bracket

• Individuals in receipt of public assistance and other forms of social support

Helpful points to consider before you apply

• Interested persons should have a sound business idea

• Relevant business skill or experience

• Willingness to work within the criteria of the programme

How does R.E.A.C.H. Work?

The R.E.A.C.H Programme is managed by the Division of Health and Social Services and Gender Affairs, via the R.E.A.C.H Secretariat headed by a Coordinator.

Applications for the Grant Funding can be obtained from trained R.E.A.C.H. programme officers, who have the responsibility to advise, access and evaluate applicants. At the end of this process the application is then forwarded to a screening committee for final approval.

The grants are as follows:

• Micro-enterprise grant ( $7500.00)

• Training grant ($2500.00)
